Seit Pattons Einstieg bei Faith No More wurde das Einbinden von Liedern anderer Interpreten in eigene Songs – quasi als Live Sample – zum Markenzeichen der Jungs. Eine FNM-Version von Bee Gees’ “I Started a Joke” – als Komplettcover – hat es bis aufs Album geschafft. Die Schnulze “Spanish Eyes” wurde immerhin auch im Studio eingespielt und als B-Side veröffentlicht. Bei Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk oder Peeping Tom gab Mr. Patton Cover von Ennio Morricone, Brittney Spears, Henry Mancini, Slayer oder Bobby Womacks Across 110th Street u.a. zum Besten. Dabei hat man als Hörer immer das Gefühl, die Songs werden nicht nur als Parodie präsentiert, sondern auch als Hommage.
Mit Mondo Cane haben Patton, Aldo Sisillo, Roy Paci und das Metropole Orchestra italienische Popschlager aus den 50er und 60er Jahren neu interpretiert. Hier ist es eindeutig eine Verneigung vor den Songs – und immer auch ein Augenzwinkern:
